Oh, man, Lillie is going to kill me for this in about 10 years. But right now, you will all think it’s funny, so I’m going to go with it.
Lillie has started showing a lot of awareness about using her diaper. When we pull out the diaper changing stuff or tell her that it’s time to change her pants, she walks away, squats down, does her thing and then comes over for a changing. She can also sign to us that she wants to have her diapers changed (which she also does before she fills them). So we decided that it’s time to introduce her to the idea of the bathroom, we are not potty training her per se, rather we are letting her know where WE go and getting her comfortable with it.
So the opportunity presented itself the other day and I took Lillie into the bathroom, took her diaper off, held her on the toilet and talked to her about going to the bathroom and all that stuff. She didn’t go, so I took her off and set her down and then though that I would show her what I was talking about. I sat down on the toilet and said all that embarressing stuff about how Mommy is going pee-pee. Lillie looked at me like she understood. She smiled. She watched. She squatted down. She peed all over the bathroom rug.
At least she seems to know that we do it in the bathroom, right? Progress?
