Update on Lillian
Where to begin? Lillie is growing up so quickly, I feel like I have to smush her down. With the influence of her big sister and her natural alert curiousity, Lillie is making great strides in being a part of the world around her.
Lillie is an avid eater. She likes to eat anything and everything you give her. Right now she prefers food she can hold onto, as she sees Sophie do this all day. She likes biter biscuits and, her newest food, fruit leather. It’s like giving her candy, but she comes from a long line of candy eaters and she will be just fine. That being said, the sweets have not interfered with her ability to enjoy plain rice cereal made with water- she will eat anything put out before her. She ate my cell phone yesterday. Couldn’t make a call on it for two hours. It started randomly dialing people and the screen went out.
Lillie is literally days away from crawling. She can crawl backward and she knows that you have to push yourself up, and you have to crawl with your legs, but she can’t seem to get them both together. I’m trying to let her get more tummy time so that she can practice, but it seems like everytime she grasps for a toy that is a little beyond her reach, there is someone who is ready and willing to give it to her. Usually this person is me.
Lillie can laugh. She can laugh when something is funny– like Sophie laughing or Daddy pretending to eat her or Mommy playing the “Where is Lillie?” game. I didn’t know that babies could think things are funny, but she certainly can.
Lillie sits, although if she gets too distracted she will fall face first into the ground. But she doesn’t cry, she just looks up like, “Can I get a little help here?”
It is just so fun to play with a baby that is as alert and responsive as Lillie is. She is well behaved and is pretty calm and doesn’t cry that much (for me, other caregivers might feel differently) and I just love to look at her. She amazes me all the time, and everyday Shad and I look at her and tell each other how happy we are to have gotten Lillie for our very own.
